by The Spool List
Commission custom woodwork from verified makers — post once, get bids.
Dining tables, desks, shelves, bed frames, cutting boards, signs, turned bowls, built-ins, cut-to-size panels and repairs. The platform holds what you pay until the piece reaches you and you confirm delivery.
Post your woodworking commission — free Posting is free. Nothing is charged until you accept a maker's bid.

Commission estimator
Ballpark your piece before you post. The real number comes from woodworkers who see your sizes and photos.
How it works
Describe the piece, add sizes, photos of the room and any sketch, pick a species if you have one in mind and set a budget. Woodworkers send a price and a timeline; pick one, pay, and follow progress photos until it's delivered.
Why not a Facebook message?
Your payment sits with the platform, not the maker, until you confirm the piece arrived. The scope is written down before work starts, and if something goes wrong there's a dispute path instead of an unanswered inbox.
Who's making
Furniture makers, cabinetmakers, woodturners, sign makers and CNC shops. If a verified maker has the tools and skills your piece needs, they can bid on it.

Why commission woodwork here instead of in a DM
Paid when the piece arrives
You pay when you accept a bid. The platform holds that money and releases it to the maker once you confirm the piece reached you.
Makers bid on your piece
One brief reaches every verified maker with the skills it needs: furniture, cabinetry, turning, carving or CNC. Compare price, timeline, reviews and past work side by side.
The bid is what you pay
Buyers pay the maker's quoted price. The Spool List adds no buyer fee on top.
Reviews from finished commissions
A maker's reviews are tied to completed orders, so every rating comes from someone who actually commissioned them.
Scope in writing
Species, dimensions, joinery and finish are agreed in the job before work starts, so nobody has to remember what was said on the phone.
A dispute path, not an unanswered inbox
If a piece stalls or doesn't match the agreed scope, raise a dispute from the app. The Spool List reviews any that the two of you can't settle.

Common questions
How much does custom furniture cost?
It depends on size, species, joinery, finish and deadline, so we don't publish a price list. HomeAdvisor's cost guide puts custom woodworking labor at $50–$100 an hour plus materials. Use the estimator for a ballpark, then post your brief free and compare real bids.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Not to a maker directly. You pay the full bid when you accept it, and the platform holds that payment. The maker isn't paid until you confirm delivery, so you're never sending a deposit into a DM and hoping.
When does the maker get paid?
When you confirm the piece was delivered. Until then the payment stays with the platform. If something goes wrong, there's a dispute process that looks at the agreed scope, the progress photos and your messages.
